From Simone Kermes' lovely new album "Bel Canto: From Monteverdi to Verdi"
Which explores the history and evolution of bel canto from baroque to romanticism.
Though her voice is completely wrong for the role of Norma, she does a beautiful job with aria - a prayer for peace to the goddess of the moon. She also demonstrates immense breathe control and flexibility. I imagine her sound is closer to perhaps how Adelina Patti or Jenny Lind sang this piece.
