This will come as no surprise to those of you who read and love his works--Edgar Allen Poe was a Celt.
His grandparents were from Ireland and Poe was fostered by a Scottish family, the Allans(hence his middle name, although he wasn't formally adopted) after his mother died and his father abandoned the family.
Elements of Celtic myth and spiritualism infuse the macbre and mystical themes woven throughout his works , and Poe may have explored his Celtic heritage even further had he not died so young.
